    Description

Up for auction is a scarce large-format (65mm)
OMEGA Olympic Rattrapante 1/10th second 12 hour Chronograph
in full working pre-owned condition. This high quality model of Stopwatch Chronograph was designed to precisely time Olympic sporting events, and was also commonly used in auto rally competitions.
This late 1960s to late 1970s era OMEGA chronograph is in excellent working condition, keeps good time, and has a good power reserve.
The watch features a complicated clock movement with split-action chronograph functions.
The dark crinkle-finish case has minimal signs of wear (see photos).
The crystal is clear and in very good condition.  There are no cracks, chips nor scratches on the actual glass surface. However
, the crystal's ultra thin anti-reflective outer coating shows a few streaks when viewed at a side angle in bright lighting.
The chronograph is excellent working condition. The Time-Set lock button and time setting functions work perfectly.
    All 6 watch hands
are straight, aligned, and are in very good cosmetic condition. See photos.
The Winding stem, Stopwatch Main Pusher Button and time-set-mode button are all in full working condition.
The 3 stopwatch-feature-hands will start, stop, resume, and reset cleanly to 'zero' position as expected.
The watch is comparatively large and heavy, measuring 65mm in diameter.
    Other Details
This is a Rattrapante type chronograph, which means it has 2 independent seconds hands. One runs continuously, and the other hand can be paused by pushing the small button to record a "Split Time" or "Lap Time". A second press of the split button causes the hand to Rejoin or Resume with the continuously moving seconds hand.
This chronograph features a high frequency 36,000 beats per hour movement and times to 1/10 of a second.
This chronograph also features an uncommon 600 position outer seconds hand dial and 1/10 second precision in one revolution of the seconds hand (note the 10 small individual tenth-second hash marks between each 1-second marker with 600 tick marks around the dial)
By comparison, most common chronographs and stopwatches have only a 300 position seconds dial and only 1/5 second resolution with one revolution of the seconds hand.
This one is more advanced and has 600 positions and the hands advance every 1/10 second.
This model Omega cal 1131 chronograph is very difficult to find and is a highly collectible vintage time piece
