    Description

    WHITEHURST COPY. These are tough to find. It’s obvious that many more daguerreotypes are copies, i.e. daguerreotypes of daguerreotypes, than we ever imagined. Uncle Joe’s photo came out good so others wanted copies. In this case it’s a family of three.
    Other photographers advertise that they’ll make daguerreotypes of daguerreotypes, but putting "COPY" on the brass mat is rare.

    HOUSING. Split full case.
    CONDITION. Lightly cleaned and resealed in 2008 (according to a note on the seals). Very good condition.
    APPEARANCE. Very good contrast. Some great details. Wonderful body language between the three of them. Lovely composition. A beautiful family portrait.
