For your consideration, we are offering a vintage art print depicting 1930s boxer Max Baer celebrating
a victory in the ring surrounded by his trainers while facing press photographers.
This print is from circa
the 1970s/80s and was matted by Authentic Old Ads of Jericho, Long Island.
The artwork was done by John Cullen Murphy, the artist who illustrated the "Prince Valiant" adventure
comic. Mr. Murphy's artistic style was influenced by Norman Rockwell. As a boy, Murphy posed for one
of Rockwell's paintings, which appeared on the cover of the September 22, 1934 edition of the
Saturday Evening Post (titled "Starstruck"). Rockwell subsequently tutored Murphy in art.
The mat measures approximately 11" x 13.25" (27.94 x 33.65 cm).
The print measures approximately 8.25" x 10.75" (20.96 x 27.31 cm).
