Homecoming for August Wilson Charity Benefit Poster for Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly based in Minneapolis, Minnesota / signed by Legendary African American Playwright August Wilson. August Wilson held a reading from his famous works to benefit Friends of the Elderly on September 9, 1989. He read passages from Fences, Ma Rainey Black Bottom and a few of his other works. August Wilson wrote his first play Ma Rainey's Black Bottom while employed as a cook at Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During his employment at Little Brothers Wilson considered it "The most wonderful time of his life." This event was a Homecoming for August Wilson to raise money for an organization that Wilson loved deeply and helped usher him into writing plays and stardom as the greatest African American playwright that ever lived.
