Description
Up for auction is signed Ewd Winstanley Pocket Watch. It has not been serviced. It does not run. This is a Pair cased watch Without the outer case, just the watch. The watchdial
face measures 1 13/16" wide and is in damaged condition. The enamel is chipped at the "6". It is stamped w/ "S.P.", an anchor, a "0" and another mark on the inside of the back case. I think the unidentfied mark may be a close up of a Lion's face. That's what it looks like to me from one angle.
The movement is engraved with "Edw Winstanley". Then"Uverston" and "No 107". I'm guessing that is the serial number. I have found a number of watch makers with the last name Winstanley. One out of Dublin and also from Wales. Uverston is a Market Town in the Cumbria region on western UK. Most of the Winstanley watch makers are working in the late 1800's. 1880's 1890's, but there are several makers with that last name. Joseph, John, W.M., R. and Edward all produced watches and clock works in about that same time.
