    Description

    He’s a handsome man, for sure, with his wavy hair. Often people in daguerreotypes seem like they have what’s commonly referred to as 'cross-eye,' but in actuality it may be a function of the exposure time. However, this man clearly has misaligned eyes or scientifically speaking: strabismus. Note his gold watch chain.
    SIZE. Sixth plate.
    HOUSING. Worn full case.
    CONDITION. Modern seals (not by us). Tarnish on periphery. Perhaps a stain at the bottom of his shirt, but not sure it’s not a shadow. The white spot on his chest, at left, is only on the glass.
    APPEARANCE. Bold. Very good contrast. Blacks are black and whites are white. Wonderful facial tint.
