    Description

I am pleased to offer this old and original, estate fresh daguerreotype photo lot. The lot consists of 3 photos, 2 which are identified by a later family member. There is a 1/2 plate image of Reverend George E Potts and wife Matilda. The second image is the key image in this group. It is a 1/6 plate of Mary Engles Potts. Mary was a gifted pupil of Schumann's student and colleague Otto Dresel. Schumann's Bunte Blatter Opus 99 was dedicated to her. Later Schumann wrote the publisher to have the dedication omitted, but the title page had already been engraved, so it remained. This link link https://www.thefreelibrary.com/Robert+Schumann+and+Mary+Potts-a0189930198 will give the entire story. It is an interesting read. The third image is a 1/16 of an unidentified young woman, perhaps another of the Reverends children. All 3 dags have spotting, tarnish, fading and wear commensurate with age. I removed the 1/2 and 1/16 plate from the cases, and the seals are gone. I could not easily tap the Marry Potts photo from the case, but assume the seal is also missing. The 1/2 plate case has a detached cover as does the 1/16. Otherwise the cases are average.  The photos are an integral part of my description. They will give an accurate representation, and best tell the story. View additional pics following my description. Kindly email any specific questions, comments or need for additional photos. I am happy to combine purchases to save you on shipping. U.S. BIDDERS ONLY!! Please read my Terms and Conditions before placing a bid. USPS Priority mailing. The handling charge, if any, is merely to cover insurance. Thank You.
