    Description

1917 Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Pa., No. 940, 21 jewels 18 size stem wind/lever set railroad grade pocket watch in fine looking & running condition. The case is an original jeweler’s display model in fine original condition. This watch was professionally serviced recently, runs strong and keeps good time.
The serial number on the railroad grade 940, Model no.1 movement is 1408040 which dates it to 1917; it has 21 ruby jewels and is adjusted to temperature & 5 positions, has gold jewel settings, gold balance wheel timing screws, motor barrel, double roller, safety pinion and a
    Goldthwait
    patented
micrometric regulator. The back of the movement has outstanding damaskeening and engraving patterns with fancy gold filled lettering.
The porcelain enameled double sunk Montgomery dial with bold numbers has some small hairlines but looks great just as it is. The set lever is near the 2:00 position and is accessible without removing the bezel. The blued steel heavy spade style hour & minute hands are in fine condition.
The Hamilton front & back signed jeweler’s display case measures approximately 2-1/16 inches in diameter (not including the bow & crown) x 11/16 inch thick including the crystals. The glass front new old antique stock crystal is mint, the rear crystal is a new old stock G-S acrylic model in mint condition. (The original rear glass crystal is included also).
The original bow and the winding crown are in fine condition with very faint wear from use, and the bow is tightly hinged.
This is an outstanding early timepiece for your collection and use, and a great watch for Railroad enthusiasts. Also makes an excellent gift!
My pictures have many unavoidable shadows, reflections and dust spots that will be cleaned; the watch looks fine in person.
